SATIC, Inc. ("SATIC," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the SATIC Config Tool mobile application ("the App") collects, how that information is used, and the choices available to you.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When using the App to provision a SATIC PC321 device, you may enter:
- Wi-Fi network credentials (SSID and password) for the network the device will connect to
- MQTT broker credentials (username and password) issued by SATIC for device authentication
Information Collected Automatically
- Bluetooth advertisements from nearby SATIC devices (used solely to display them in the App for selection during provisioning)
- Device identifiers of provisioned hardware (such as MAC addresses) used to register devices with SATIC services
Information We Do Not Collect
The App does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, photos, contacts, calendar, location data from your phone's GPS, or browsing history.
2. How We Use Information
Information collected through the App is used to:
- Configure SATIC PC321 hardware to connect to your Wi-Fi network
- Authenticate devices with SATIC's secure MQTT messaging service
- Enable provisioned devices to send telemetry data to SATIC's servers for energy monitoring services
3. How Information Is Transmitted and Stored
- Wi-Fi credentials are transmitted over an encrypted Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) session directly to the SATIC device using the ESP-IDF Security 1 protocol (AES-CTR encryption with proof-of-possession authentication). Wi-Fi credentials are not transmitted to or stored on SATIC servers.
- Device telemetry (after provisioning is complete) is transmitted from the device to SATIC's MQTT broker over TLS-encrypted connections.
- Device records (device ID, registration metadata, telemetry) are stored on SATIC's secure infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States.
4. Information Sharing
SATIC does not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties.
We may share information with:
- Service providers that help us operate our infrastructure (such as Amazon Web Services), bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations
- Legal authorities if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SATIC, our users, or others
5. Data Retention
- Wi-Fi credentials are not retained by the App after provisioning is complete
- Device registration data and telemetry are retained for as long as the device is associated with an active SATIC account
- You may request deletion of device data by contacting SATIC at the email below
6. Permissions Used by the App
The App requests the following device permissions:
- Bluetooth — to discover and communicate with SATIC PC321 devices for configuration
- Local Network access (iOS) — to verify device connectivity after provisioning
The App does not request access to your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or location.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to SATIC, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect data both in transit and at rest, including TLS encryption for network traffic, AES-CTR encryption for device provisioning, and access controls on stored data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information against unauthorized access.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Material changes will be communicated through the App or the SATIC website.
